      <image:title>The Countryside Difference</image:title>
<image:caption>At Countryside Montessori School, we value childhood as a time of innocence, wonder, and discovery. Dr. Maria Montessori wrote: “One becomes a well-balanced adult only if one has fully been a child.” Our community honors this belief by allowing children the time and space to explore, develop, and grow at their own pace. Here, children are respected for their unique gifts and individuality. We place equal importance on both social and academic development, recognizing that qualities such as independence, confidence, kindness, and curiosity are just as essential to a child’s growth as academic learning. At Countryside Montessori School, we believe childhood is a remarkable and formative time. Our goal is to cultivate an environment where children feel respected, capable, and inspired to explore the world around them. We are honored to partner with families who value thoughtful education, strong community, and a deep respect for the child. To learn more about joining our school community, we invite you to visit our Admissions page.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Children have extraordinary powers of the mind, as they possess a once-in-a-lifetime ability to truly absorb information and concepts from their surroundings, like a sponge. Children learn by doing with their own hands. Independence, coordination, order, self-discipline and concentration are developed. Children work individually and cooperatively with materials that engage their curiosity. Children in our casa community are engaged peacefully and purposefully in a wide range of activities. We support the childʼs natural drive for independence by encouraging him to choose activities of interest and concentrate without interruption. All the while, the classroom guide is giving academic presentations to independent students or small groups based on independent academic levels while also meeting the needs of the whole group.</image:caption>

      <image:title>The Method</image:title>
<image:caption>The primary goal of Montessori is to promote the joy of learning. This joy of learning develops a well adjusted person who has a purpose and direction in his or her life. Children who experience this are happy, confident, fulfilled children. In essence, Montessori helps bring forth the gift of each child. Also noteworthy, a Montessori education emphasizes and develops independence, self motivation, and life skills. The Montessori way helps a child to become independent by teaching him or her life skills through one area of focus known as practical life. Montessori children learn to dress themselves, help cook, put their things away and take an active part of their household, neighborhood and school. Children naturally want to learn about the world around them and want to have a role in it. Montessori supports this natural desire by providing the daily opportunities to develop those skills and be involved. Montessori works in a methodical way. Every work in the classroom serves a purpose and teaches a skill. You will not find anything in a Montessori classroom that does not have a specific purpose or lesson. All materials are arranged from left to right, top to bottom, from concrete concepts to the abstract. This arrangement on the shelves is structured so because we read from left to right, and each lesson builds on the other. One must master the first concept to move on to the next. Dr. Maria Montessori says that a child’s play is their work, and their work is their play. When a child plays, he or she is learning concepts for abstract learning. Repetition of activities is an integral part of this learning process. The Montessori child learns by doing. It encourages children to develop their observation skills by performing many types of activities. These activities are designed to use as many of the senses as possible, kinetic movement, spatial refinement, small and large motor skill coordination, and concrete knowledge that leads to later abstraction. A Montessori guide observes each child like a scientist, providing every child with an individual program for learning. Phoebe Child (Head of the Montessori Trust in London) said “we must be prepared to wait patiently like a servant, to watch carefully like a scientist, and to understand through love and wonder like a saint.” Most of all, Dr. Montessori wanted to help free a child’s mind to be unfettered to free to learn. It is success oriented in that almost everything is self-teaching and self-correcting. The children learn by doing, exploration of the materials, with guidance from the teacher. The environment is specifically prepared for the children to allow them to interact with it freely; everything is child-sized and safe for children to touch and use. In fact, Dr. Montessori called her center “Casa Dei Bambini,” or “The Children’s House.“ The Montessori method provides a stimulating, child oriented environment that children can explore, touch, and learn without fear. An understanding parent or teacher is a large part of this child’s world. The end result is to encourage life long learning, the joy of learning, and happiness about one’s path and purpose in life</image:caption>

      <image:title>Natural Playgrounds - Natural Playgrounds</image:title>
<image:caption>Natural playgrounds are more beneficial to the children in their active play and use of their imaginations. Our natural playground is evolving into a beautiful, peaceful place were children have natural elements to play on. Running, climbing on real logs, hopping on tree stumps, playing music on wooden instruments, watering plants, and playing with sand and stones, all engage the child physical while sparking their imaginations. We believe exploring all the wonders of the natural world is is essential to the health and wellbeing of young children. We spend time outside enjoying all the seasons of nature each day.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Community Meals</image:title>
<image:caption>What lunchtime looks like at Countryside Montessori School. All communities in our school gather in their classrooms, to prepare for lunch. The children wash their hands, set their own place and decorate their community tables. We use real place settings- plates and bowls, utensils- spoons and forks, pitchers and glasses. Children spoon, scoop, or tong, their lunch from lovely bowls and baskets onto their plates. Children then sit at a table of their choice to share good manners, friendly conversations, and a delicious meal. While enjoying this meal the lights are dimmed and music is softly playing, a true Montessori dining experience. After the children have finished their meals they scrape their dishes and wash them in a two-part sink of soapy water and clear water and place them in a bin to be disinfected by their guides. The children then clean their tables and sweep the floor. During this time they take care of themselves, their environment, and are helpful to their younger peers. Lunchtime is a very enjoyable, relaxing time for children and guides. Lunches and snacks are included in your school tuition. We ask that you do not send lunch or snacks for your child.</image:caption>

      <image:title>A Child's Day</image:title>
<image:caption>The children’s day is filled with beautiful and exciting activities. Our morning begins with a handshake from the guide, inviting each child into the classroom. The children enjoy seeing each other first thing in the morning, greeting each other as they come. The children are eager to get to work. They enjoy the Montessori materials and their work is very important to them. They experience all areas of the curriculum during the morning uninterrupted work period: math, language, reading, writing, as well as a wide array of cultural subjects from geography to botany. During the morning work period children prepare a snack to enjoy with a friend. After the work period, the children enjoy a short gathering time and then go outdoors to run, play and explore our natural playscape. Lunch follows recess, which is provided through our meal plan and is often fresh from our school gardens. Lunch is served family style. Each class schedule is tailor-fitted to each age group. Younger children have nap time after lunch, while the older children begin their afternoon activities. Cultural subjects, art, music, science, etc. fill the afternoons. It is then the end of the school day where some friends go home while others stay for our aftercare program.</image:caption>
